Brain Grain is a student-created, whole grain snack brand developed through a partnership between Box Elder School on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation and Big Sandy Organics, a family-owned organic snack company in rural Montana. High school business students design, test, and market Brain Grain products while Big Sandy Organics manufactures them in a licensed facility, creating a real-world learning lab for entrepreneurship, food production, and marketing. The snack uses KAMUT® brand ancient grain and other Montana-grown crops to provide a crunchy, kid-friendly, whole grain option that pairs well with milk, fruit, or vegetables in afterschool and summer programs. Profits are reinvested into the school’s business program and scholarships, so every purchase directly supports student opportunity. Brain Grain offers CACFP and afterschool sponsors a unique way to serve a wholesome snack that connects local agriculture, youth leadership, and community economic development.
