About
Groups working with school food waste reduction are reporting young children are generating vast quantities of food waste. It’s not surprising. One of the most glaring outcomes of the pandemic is an emerging epidemic of picky eating in our young children. The lack of socialization and stressful home environments translated into a cohort of exhausted parents choosing the path of least resistance by giving in to kids' demands for ultra-processed and highly palatable foods. Plus, without the “normal” exposure to new foods during grocery shopping trips and visiting other families with different food traditions and behaviors, expanding kids' palates was rarely, if ever, explored. No wonder so many new delicious foods kids are being offered in school cafeterias aren’t being consumed. We are excited to provide a solution, empowering teachers and parents with the language and problem-solving skills to instill a practicing mindset in these kids before the bad habits are too entrenched.
